Dorchester Festival starts here!

The Seventh Dorchester Festival is over ... a stunning five days of 80 events across five venues.

Dorchester Festival Radio is off the air for another year, but you can still download the podcasts from iTunes by searching for Dorchester Festival. We hope to update it with a 'Best of' podcast with audio from some of the live events.

Click on Festival photos for a selection of pictures from the event - there's even a link for you to send us your favourite pictures.

Join us to celebrate Central and Eastern European culture alongside Dorset artists and an event to mark the 200th anniversary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade.

For the seventh Dorchester Festival, we return to the fantastic venue of Maumbury Rings, the town's ancient amphitheatre. We also go back to the beautiful Borough Gardens for a Festival first - an outdoor film screening.

The acts start earlier, the bar is open longer and the artists have travelled further - and it's all happening on your doorstep.

Dorchester Festival brings you howling wolves dancing through Balkan circles, Sufi spins and Cossack kicks.

Watch out, be amazed, and get warm by the rhythm of the gypsy campfire.

A new radio station is going on air in Dorchester and the surrounding area -Dorchester Festival Radio 87.7fm !

The station goes on air on Friday May 18th at 11am and will be broadcasting 12 hours a day - 11am to 11pm until the end of the Festival on May 28th.

For the first week we are broadcasting specially made programmes with a wide range of content – Interviews with people like Town Clerk Dennis Holmes, a fascinating Quiz show about Dorchester and its history, programmes by Hardye’s School students, a special music programme featuring the music of Thomas Hardy and lots more great music.

For those out of range we will be broadcasting simultaneously on the internet which anybody in the world will be able to receive.

To whet people’s appetites, we are slowly releasing podcasts of some of the recorded programmes which you can download from the Festival Radio page on this site or direct from iTunes. Simply go to the page and click the link – or open iTunes with this link:
